Manchester United have reportedly pulled out of the race for Erling Haaland as the striker has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
Several of Europe’s big hitters are vying for the Norwegian’s signature in the summer due to the forward’s meteoric rise at Borussia Dortmund.
It’s claimed Haaland will be available for around £62.7million due to a release clause in his current contract, something which appeals to a number of teams.
United have been firmly in the hunt since day one as they look for a long-term solution for Edinson Cavani.
Old Trafford chiefs have been hoping that Ralf Rangnick’s relationship with Haaland at Salzburg could give them the edge, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

United are now not considering making an approach for the highly-rated striker, reports the Daily Star.
It’s believed Haaland has “set his heart” on a move to Real Madrid and the Red Devils have reluctantly accepted his decision.
Madrid are reportedly planning a double swoop for Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, who is set to leave Paris-Saint Germain as a free agent at the end of the season.
Rangnick praised Haaland’s talents last month but played down the possibility of him joining United.
He said: “Haaland is a fantastic striker. I know best myself because I was together with the people at RB Salzburg at the time.
“I was also a little bit involved with the move [Haaland’s] from Molde to Salzburg therefore I know what kind of player he is.
“But in the meantime, the whole world has realised how good the player is. Two years ago, it was only a few people who believed.”
Man United will now be forced to look elsewhere for a no.9 with Cavani and Anthony Martial reportedly unsettled at the club.
The Uruguayan is upset about his lack of playing time and is looking for a move away from Old Trafford this month.
But Rangnick has made it clear that Cavani is a part of his plans until the end of the season and he will be staying put.
Rangnick said: “We’ve had quite a few conversations in the last couple of weeks, he’s probably the player I have spoken to most.
“I told him from the very first day he’s a highly important player, probably the only one that can play as a striker back to goal and, as I have said before, his professionalism and work ethic is amazing.
“I told him that I desperately want him to stay until the end of the season and he knows how highly I rate and respect him.
“He knows I definitely would not let him go. For me, he is a highly important player for the rest of the season in a squad still playing in three competitions.
“We definitely need him and it is clear he has to stay.”
