Katie Price has been hit with slew of Ofcom complaints after her explanation of her drink-drugs crash.
The 43-year-old appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain last week where she explained how she felt “ashamed” by what happened as she opened up about the “traumatic events” that led to her drink-drugs crash last year.
But now Katie has been hit by a wave of complaints from viewers of the ITV show, with 53 people getting in touch with Ofcom to make their feelings known.
During the interview, Katie vowed that 2022 would “definitely” be her year as she admitted a lot had happened in 2021.
“2022 is definitely my year – 22 is my lucky number… this has to be my year of no dramas. So much has happened last year,” she said during the chat with host Susanna Reid, who pointed out: “You must be thankful that you’re not in jail… you managed to avoid a jail sentence, things could have been very different.”
“The events leading up to it were very traumatic, I’m not ready to talk about it yet,” Katie said, as she explained she was seeing a therapist weekly, “There’s reasons why I got in that car, my mental state. I feel ashamed about it.
“When I’m ready to talk about it, I’ll come on here. I just think that people shouldn’t judge.”
Representatives for Katie have been contacted for comment regarding the complaints made to Ofcom.
Last year, Katie crashed her Range Rover in the early morning near her home in Sussex and at the time, she told police officers that she’d taken drugs and shouldn’t be driving.
Roadside tests undertaken at the scene showed she had cocaine in her system and she was almost twice the legal limit of alcohol. She pleaded guilty after being charged with driving while unfit to drive through drink, using a motor vehicle on a public place without third party insurance and driving while disqualified and was sentenced last month.
She was given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and 100 hours of unpaid work, with her driving ban kept to two years. In a statement following the sentencing, she admitted it had been a “really difficult time”.
“It’s been a really difficult time and I’m incredibly sorry for my actions – I’m sincerely grateful nobody was hurt – I realise the damage my actions could have caused not only to another family, but to my own as well,” she said.
