Corrie’s Millie Gibson says Gary murder reveal could ‘push Kelly over the edge’

There’s a major death secret still looming over residents in Coronation Street, with just a handful of them knowing the truth about Rick Neelan’s disappearance in 2019.

Gary Windass murdered the villain in the woods and buried his body, after he tried to kill him first.

Since then, Gary stepped up in his place as the local villain before regretting his actions and trying to get his reputation back on track.

All the while, he’s claimed Rick is still alive and on the run from all the dodgy people he’s got in trouble with.

He was the last known person to have spoken to Rick, leading to Rick’s daughter Kelly Neelan’s arrival just months after his secret demise.

She has constantly accused Gary of hurting her dad and has remained desperate for answers, while Kelly’s life has also taken a dark turn in the past year.

Caught up in the death of Seb Franklin, Kelly was sent to prison and then made homeless when she was eventually freed.

With her friends and many residents turning their backs on her, Kelly has turned to drugs and is now trying to get her life back on track.

In upcoming scenes, she is offered a lifeline by Gary and his partner Maria, as they offer her a place to stay for a while, which could mean his dark secret will come out.

It’s a ticking time bomb waiting to explode, as is the fact he was the true culprit behind the factory roof collapse the following year that left Rana Habeeb dead.

Now, Kelly actress Millie Gibson has teased that when the truth does come out it might tip her troubled teen character over the edge.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, the actress revealed all about her character getting closer to Gary as he continues to hide his killer secret.

On what leads to her moving in with him and Maria, she said: “I think it’s just a home situation, she’s a proper house hopper.

“She is grateful for any open arms. It is the irony that she wouldn’t have gone through any of this without Gary. He is feeling that guilt.”

On the secret, she went on: “Yeah, I think she’s in a very fragile mindset. The more you watch, you think it can’t get worse but it does.

“She’s on her last legs really, and she is putting all her hope into Gary and this new living situation so if any past news comes out, it would be the final straw.”

Millie added: “I think it’s just in a way, if she did find out, she’d have a mindset of how her blood has treated her over the years.

“People like Stu, Imran and Toyah are no relation to her and have done so much more, and have helped her out.

“If she found out that Rick was dead, she’d think he wasn’t that much use anyway but at this time it would push her over the edge.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
