Katie Price predicted something ‘dramatic’ would happen in her personal life that would leave her desperately glad she found a residential home for her disabled son Harvey.
Speaking out in her upcoming book Harvey & Me, the former glamour model delves into the special bond she shares with her eldest child, who is partially blind, autistic and has Prader-Willi syndrome .
Katie, 43, has been Harvey’s sole carer since he was a baby with her ex partner, the former Manchester City footballer Dwight Yorke, choosing not to be involved in his life.
Earlier this year, Katie made the agonising decision to move Harvey from her family home and into an assisted living facility to allow them both greater freedom after he turned 18.
Writing in her latest book, Katie says the thought of Harvey having round the clock specialist care is a ‘real security blanket’ to her amid the chaos of her life.
Writing before her drink drive smash last month, Katie also made the chilling prediction that if something ‘dramatic’ should happen to her, she now. has the assurance that Harvey is settled and would be looked after in her absence.
Katie penned: ” Harvey will be living at National Star for 52 weeks of the year, which means he can stay there as long as he likes – even throughout all of the holidays, including Christmas. Obviously he’s going to come home, but it’s a relief to know that he can always be there.
“If something dramatic happened in my life, and let’s be honest, that’s a common occurrence, I don’t have to be thinking, ‘What’s going to happen to Harvey? Who’s going to look after him?’
“It’s a massive weight off my shoulders to know that if he absolutely has to, he can stay there. I feel like now, for the first time, I can breathe. And even though I do, I shouldn’t feel guilty for that.”
The book was written before Katie’s dramatic drink drive crash in September, where she rolled her BMW in the early hours of the morning while banned from the road for a previous offence.
Following the incident, she was ordered to undertake treatment at The Priory before waiting to find out if she will be sentenced to jail.
A lawyer for the star told a hearing at Crawley Magistrates court last month that talks had been had with the rehab centre and they had confirmed they had space for her.
Chair of the bench Julie Hutton agreed to defer sentencing to December 15, on the basis that Katie works with probation and attends rehab.
“We regularly send people to prison for driving whilst disqualified,” Hutton warned the reality star.
“On that basis, Ms Price, you are free to go and good luck at the Priory.”
It’s not the first time Katie has attended the facility.
In January 2020, Katie checked into the Priory for ‘severe trauma rehabilitation’ after struggling with issues in her personal life.
Speaking to the Mirror last year, she called her decision to enter the facility ‘the best thing I’ve ever done’, saying: “I went to The Priory and booked in and said, “I don’t want to leave here, I want to be an inpatient, help me to sort out my head, this is my last chance to do it, I don’t want to die, I don’t want to kill myself, help me.”‘
Katie added: “I was in The Priory because it’s a build up of all this s**t that I’ve had, this abuse, this mental abuse.
“I was never in The Priory for drink or drugs – ever! It was severe trauma rehabilitation, and I still speak to the doctor weekly now because that’s what I want to do because there are lots of things that have gone on in my past that led me up to that.”
