Judge Christopher Dean worries Bez has “bit off more than he can chew” with Dancing On Ice – after a series of bad falls.
The Happy Mondays star will be taking to the ice for the first time this weekend, but skating star Chris and the show’s host Phillip Schofield are worried whether Bez has taken on too much of a challenge.
He was involved in a nasty fall during training, where he hit the ice so hard that his helmet flew off.
Phil has previously expressed his anguish for the music star after seeing footage of the nasty accident.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Phil confessed of Bez’s time on the ice: “I think we can honestly say this year that Bez is the first celebrity that we think is going to go out with headgear on.”
Chris then added: “When we first saw Bez at the boot camp, when everybody comes for the first day and we talk about what’s going to happen and the process and the first steps on the ice, well Bez’s first steps on the ice were without skates because he’d been knocked unconscious from some boxing match he’d been doing.
“He’s up for a challenge and I don’t know whether he’s bitten off more than he can chew on this one.”
Chris admitted there are some celebrities he sits and watches with clenched fists, scared they’ll fall.
“But he is such a lovely, lovely person and he’s taken it on as a real challenge for himself,” he added.
“But for safety, we’ve had to put them in a helmet. There are some celebrities that you watch out for, where you’re sort of clenching the side of your seat hoping that they get to the end upright.”
Whilst he’s worried about Bez, Chris says there are several other contestants doing really well.
He explained: “On the other side of that, there are some amazing celebrities and this year, I think it’s one of our best seasons ever.
“With the amount of contestants that are going to be really good, it’s going to be a close fought competition between you know, five or six of them. We’re really excited for this series.”
