The Language of Love is Channel 4’s exciting new dating show – which includes exciting new TV host Ricky Merino.
The 35-year-old Spanish presenter is already quite famous in his native country where he is something of a triple threat – being a singer and actor as well as television host.
Ricky is teaming up with British TV host Davina McCall, 54, to front Channel 4’s new dating show which will see six Brits and six Spaniards thrown together on an idyllic farm to find out if they can find love without being able to speak the other person’s language.
And while Ricky might be familiar to audiences in Spain, he is a very fresh face to the UK – but here is some information about the energetic star.

Ricky in his own words
As part of the publicity for The Language of Love, Ricky has set out what he thinks everyone needs to know about him.
He said: “I’m Ricky Merino, I’m a singer and an actor.
“Here in Spain, people started to know me because I was a contestant on a talent show (Operación Triunfo) which is kinda like The X Factor of Spain.
“I’m so pleased to be a host now on British television. It’s a dream come true. I can’t believe it’s happening.”

How old is Ricky and where is he from?
Ricky was born on September 1, 1986, making him 35-years-old at the time of the Language of Love beginning in the UK.
He was born in Mallorca – which is one of the Spanish Balearic Islands off the coast of the mainland in the Mediterranean Sea.
Far from being just a pretty face, Ricky is also pretty smart – having studied at the Polytchnic University of Madrid where he studied Agricultural Engineering before gaining a degree in Audiviisual Communciation from the University of Seville and then going on to get a master’s in Creativity and Televisions Scripts at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid.

Davina’s opinion
Ricky is co-hosting the Language of Love with British national treasure Davina McCall – and she has very high praise for her Spanish counterpart indeed.
She gushed: “I love him so much! Anybody who works in television will know that double headers – presenting with somebody else – are so luck of the draw.
“You’ve either got chemistry with someone or you haven’t. I obviously had looked at Ricky’s Instagram page before and thought ‘He is fabulous, he has an amazing singing voice, he’s very glamourous – he’s exactly my type of guy’, but you never know until you meet someone in the flesh and OH. MY. GOD. We had the best laugh!
“I have never laughed so much. He is so lovely.”

Has Ricky had a holiday romance
While the singletons are looking for love on the show, Ricky has teased he’s enjoyed the occasional holiday fling himself.
He said: “I have had a holiday romance in the past, but not with somebody from another country.
“A holiday romance doesn’t need to be the final romance in your life – it’s not like you have to marry that person, but you need to experiment with that.”
The Language of Love starts on Channel 4 on Tuesday 4 January at 10pm.
