Stephen O’Donnell confirmed as new Dundalk boss

Dundalk have confirmed that former captain Stephen O’Donnell has returned to the club as their new boss.

O’Donnell comes in after Vinny Perth’s departure, and just less than two weeks removed from leading St Pat’s to FAI Cup glory against Bohemians.

He confirmed his decision to step down as St Pat’s boss last Friday, just five days after the Aviva Stadium victory – paving the way to an Oriel Park return.

The 35-year-old’s return was confirmed on Twitter as the club posted a nostalgic video captained ‘Stevie’s Home’.

In a statement last week, O’Donnell said: “Today, I informed St Patrick’s Athletic of my decision to resign as Head Coach. I understand the club and supporters will be disappointed at my decision.

“However, I hope that, despite their disappointment, they can recognise that I have given everything during my time in charge.”
